If there's one thing I could say I know for sure, just one piece of wisdom I could impart, it would be this: If you don't know the truth, you don't know anything. Facts change, but the truth never does and unless you know the truth about yourself, you cannot possibly know true peace.
In a world that is marked by chaos, our purpose for living must be clearly defined by truth or it will ultimately be defined by someone else's perception of it, which will never bring us freedom. In fact, it will prevent it. We will spend our lives trying to live up to someone else's ideals, and we are doomed to fail. The truth enables us to become the miraculous creations we were lovingly designed to be.
For me, in order to understand and the truth about my life, I had to clearly define what was true and what I believe. Each person is different, just as each heartbeat is unique and each fingerprint. As a writer, the best way to define what I knew to be true was some kind of declaration, like the Declaration of Independence. A Manifesto, if you will. In my Manifesto, I defined what I knew to be true by putting it down in black and white. That document has become the voice of truth for me in every situation or circumstance I encounter and it contains the basic principles I use to govern my life.
In sharing my Manifesto with you, it is my hope that you will be inspired to write your own. Each person is unique and what we believe is deeply personal. What mine contains is true for me and may not be true for you. Only you can decide what your guiding truths will be. The power that a personal Manifesto contains is immeasurable. When you know who you are and what you believe, there is nothing on earth that can keep you from fulfilling your God-given destiny.
My Manifesto
My name is Rachel. I am deeply, profoundly, unconditionally and irrevocably loved by God. I am not a mistake or a product of a mistake. I was intentionally and specifically created because my existence brings joy to God. The circumstances of my life do not define my worth nor do the words of any person, alive or dead. I am the firstborn of a new generation and I am free. The lies of all who have gone before me will never again be brought to life through me. I will live each moment as a testament to the unconditional love, grace, compassion, mercy and passion of my Creator. Every day of my life is a gift that I will not take for granted and I choose gratitude above complaining, no matter what circumstances I face. I will bless everyone I come into contact with, without reservation or expectation. I will judge no one, including myself, but rather live my life as an ambassador of unconditional, unending, unshakable, unstoppable Love. I am at peace with myself and my Creator and my Creator is at peace with me. I will never lose sight of hope. I will never again trade the truths of my life for the lies of defeat.
Each day I will oppose every negative word, deed, attitude or environment by intentionally speaking, thinking and focusing my energy on what is positive. My children will know they are loved without limits every day of their lives. I will cultivate their gifts and talents and teach them to know their truth worth. No one will ever be more important to me than they are and they will know they are unconditionally approved of, especially by God.
I am a mother, a sister, a daughter, a friend and I am eternal. These truths are mine and cannot be changed.
