The dictionary definition of Mercy is another one that leads to all kinds of interesting information, but for me, I think Mercy is simply forgiveness.

Mercy overlooks even the worst offense and lets it go without recourse.  Mercy knows full well that none of us is perfect and refuses to cast the first stone.  Mercy considers the pain of others as its own and washes away the guilt before it even has a chance to surface.  Mercy stands in the way of bitterness and reminds us of what we wish for from others and gives us the strength to give more than we get.  Mercy is the hands of kindness that offer hope and forgiveness to those who don't deserve it by believing they do, no matter how ugly they have been.

Acts of Mercy are always drenched in Grace because without Grace there is no Mercy, and Mercy is the result of Grace.  The more Mercy we have been given, the more we Mercy we give because Mercy, like Grace, is an active thing.  It is an ever-increasing energy that is constantly at work.

The more we use it, the more powerful it becomes.
